Changes to Patient Access

Changes to Patient Access login

  • In line with our clinical system suppliers commitment to security, they have introduced a new multi-factor authenticator (MFA) log-in process for Patient Access. Users will be required to input a one-time-passcode (OTP) from an authenticator application to log-in. You can find more information here.
  • Users can choose an authenticator application for mobile or desktop devices, and there are several free options to choose from (suggestions can be found in the link above). Users could also choose to use an ‘NHS Login’ account to access Patient Access or biometrics (Face ID or Touch ID)
  • They have made changes so that users do not need to add a mobile phone number to their Patient Access account. They can then choose to use a desktop authenticator to complete the MFA log-in. Users can also use NHS Login account, which can be set-up using a landline number, to access Patient Access.
  • We understand that this change may take some time to adapt to, and the suppliers have more information here to support users, as well as their Support Desk.
