These are only for patients who are genuinely unable, through illness or infirmity, to come to the practice. They are not for patients who do not have their own transport; these patients should use public transport or taxis or request family or neighbours’ assistance. Please remember that a doctor can see five or six patients in the surgery in the time it takes to carry out one home visit.
Telephone us before 10.30am and give the Receptionist, in confidence, the full details to allow the doctor to decide whether, and when, a home visit is necessary. The Doctor will ring you at the end of morning surgery to discuss the situation and decide if a home visit is appropriate.
An urgent home visit request can be made at any time and will be passed to the duty doctor for assessment.
